The Compaq Presario CQ58-bf9WM will be the cheapest laptop at Walmart on the upcoming Black Friday and probably the most affordable full-size notebook on the US market this holiday season.
With a price of $179, the blue CQ58-bf9WM will compete directly against Best Buy’s Lenovo G585 – 59345756 laptop offer for $187.99. Both notebooks have 15.6-inch displays with 1366×768 resolution, 2GB RAM, 320GB hard drives, DVD burners, web cameras, stereo speakers, and Windows 8 OS, but the Lenovo has a little bit faster processor. For comparison, the AMD C-60 (not C-80, as Walmart’s page mistakenly says) with the Radeon HD 6290 integrated graphics used in the Presario has a PassMark CPU score of 487, while the E-300 with Radeon HD 6310 used in the Lenovo has 678 points. As expected due to the extremely low prices, the processors in these laptops can be used only for the basic day-to-day computing tasks, such as web, email, office apps, and multimedia playback (up to 1080p videos).
Lenovo is also slightly better in terms of ports, because it has USB 3.0 speed on two out of three connectors, while the CQ58-bf9WM has three USB 2.0 ports. Both laptops have VGA, but lack HDMI connection. They of course provide Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections.
If you want to buy a cheap laptop on this Black Friday or Cyber Monday, I advise you to visit the cheap laptop deals page on Tech on Budget, where you can find many notebook offers listed by price.
Or, you can visit the Compaq Presario CQ58-bf9WM official page on Walmart.com directly.
